Application Help

Creating an application the first thoughts of a member should be “originality”. Creating an original and interesting character will impress the admin. Experiment, create someone interesting. Perhaps someone with unique personality qualities, an interesting past…even change things such as perhaps creating someone with an accent or who is accustomed to wearing certain styed clothing such as “gothic”. Next thing. Powers or abilities. If you are creating someone like this – then I must stress that you should experiment. So, with these tips in mind, I will move on to the main aspects of the application.

To me, there are three main parts which people find difficult. Personality, history, and appearance. I know, it can be difficult. But, below is a list of tips for them all.

Personality:

This must be a paragraph. So, first thoughts. What is the main personality? Is your character happy, serious, trusting, loyal, manipulative, cunning, snide, cruel….? Is their personality affected by others around them/past events? What sort of things do they like? What are their fears? How do they react or respond to different people? How do other people respond to them? Does their dress sense give hints to their personality? Are they easy to approach? Does their posture reflect on their personality and/or speech? Include things such as these, and I’m sure a paragraph will be easy to create.

Appearance:

Here are some tips for creating male or female characters. There are many different things to write about in this. Firstly hair and eyes. What colour are their eyes? Do they have glasses/sunglasses/wear contacts? What colour is their hair? What style? What length – short, medium, or long? Is it highlighted or dyed? How does it fall around their face? The characters features? Have they got an angular or rounded face? Are their cheekbones pronounced? Eyebrows…bushy or shaped? Do they wear earrings or have any tattoo’s? Anything that stands out to identify them as an individual? Any scars or past marks? Birth marks? What is their skin like? What about their nails…long and manicured or bitten down? Figure and build? Do they have freckles? What type of clothing do they wear? Do they have any jewelry? Make-up? Perfume or Aftershave? Stubble? Do they have a limp or something? Collar bone pronounced? Do they give of an impression of being rich or poor? Do they wear clothing which ensures they stand out…or clothing which ensures they blend in and stay in the background?

History:

Perhaps an easy way of doing this would be to set out a time-line of events for your character since birth before typing it into a paragraph. Otherwise...write about some the questions below:
- When and where were they born?
- How was child hood?
- What did they do? Any hobbies? Go to school?
- What were there ambitions?
- Were they rich or poor...and how were they affected by this?
- What made them into who they are present day?
- Any traumatic experiances? Loss of someone close? Bullied? Beaten?
- Any good experiances? Getting together with a first crush? A job which they enjoy or get a lot of money from?
Create questions like these, and you will have a basis to write on.

Roleplay Help

Okay, so originality is a good idea here too. The hardest part of role-playing is starting off the topic...after that it gets easier as you can react of the post of the other member before you. So, when starting a thread you might want to consider the following:

- Where is your character?
- Why are they there?
- What are they doing?
- How did they get there?
- What is the setting like?
- What mood are they in?
- Is there anyone else present?
- What are they thinking at this time? What are their feelings and emotions?
- Has something happened recently that is playing on their mind? A death perhaps?
These are just a few examples or ideas to think about.
